5/19/2025 MEDIA ADVISORY: Special Senate commission to study renewable energy to hear presentation Thursday
STATE HOUSE — A special Senate Commission to study renewable energy will meeting Thursday to hear presentations from the Division of Public Utilities and Rhode Island Energy.

 The Special Legislative Commission to Study Renewable Energy Programs will meet Thursday, May 22, at 2 p.m. in Room 313 on the third floor of the State House.

The commission will hear from Linda George of the Division of Public Utilities and Carriers, and Erica Russell-Salk from Rhode Island Energy.

The panel is tasked with making a comprehensive study of Rhode Island’s renewable energy programs and the impacts to ratepayers, which includes identifying the future needs for renewable energy in Rhode Island’s residential and commercial sectors, including, but not limited to, system sizes, energy production and energy demand; and providing recommendations to improve the cost-effectiveness and overall cost of the renewable energy programs while preserving the economic, environmental and health benefits that renewable energy provides to the state.

The commission is chaired by Sen. V. Susan Sosnowski (D-Dist. 37, South Kingstown). The meeting will be livestreamed at https://capitoltvri.cablecast.tv.
