Representative Jenni A. Furtado

Member, House Labor Committee

Member, House Municipal Government and Housing Committee

Rep. Jenni A. Furtado was elected in November 2024 to represent District 64 in East Providence and Pawtucket. She serves on the House Labor Committee and the House Municipal Government and Housing Committee.

The daughter of first-generation Peruvian immigrants, Representative Furtado became Rhode Island's first Peruvian-American elected official when she was elected to the East Providence School Committee in 2020. She was reelected in 2022 and served as committee chairwoman in her second term, overseeing the completion of the new East Providence High School from her position on the School Committee and as a member of the High School Building Committee.

Representative Furtado became the first member of her family to graduate from college when she earned a bachelor's degree from St. John's University in 2015. She graduated from Roger Williams University Law School in 2019 and specializes in immigration and workers' compensation law.

Her legislative priorities in her first session include increasing state aid for education, creating more opportunities for first-time homebuyers, supporting seniors struggling on fixed incomes from rising costs, and providing additional aid for businesses affected by the Washington Bridge closure.

Representative Furtado resides in East Providence with her husband, Marc.
