Rep. Alex Finkelman (D-Dist. 74, Jamestown, Middletown) was elected to
the Rhode Island House of Representatives in November 2022. He is a
member of the House Corporations Committee and the House Small Business
Committee.
In 2024, Representative Finkelman introduced a new law
that will limit the amount a third-party vendor may charge to help Rhode
Islanders find and recover unclaimed property. He also introduced
legislation to hold electric and gas
companies accountable by increasing transparency in their billing practices.
During the 2023 legislative session, he sponsored a new law that allows the town of Jamestown to give a tax break to its volunteer firefighters.
He is a graduate of the Providence Country Day School in East
Providence and the University of Hartford with a degree in Insurance and
Finance.
Born on February 13, 1986, he is the Owner/President of The Egis
Insurance Group, specializing in insurance, consulting, and employee
benefits. Representative Finkelman previously served on the Jamestown
Zoning Board.
He is married to Denise and is the father of Oliver and Andre.
