Representative Brian Rea (R-District 53, Smithfield, Glocester) was elected in November 2022. He serves on the House Education Committee, the House Finance Committee, and the House Small Business Committee.
In addition to entering elected public service, he works as a Facilities Director for a Rhode Island State Charter Corporation. Rea has over 20 years of experience creating and maintaining proper campus infrastructure needs, while balancing those needs within stringent budget allowances. Rea is also a business owner, currently owning a convenience store and restaurant in Glocester.
Rea has been engaged in grass roots public service, most recently as the Chair of the Smithfield Republican Town Committee. Working with partners, such as the Conservation Law Foundation of Washington D.C., he spearheaded community efforts focused on protecting the rights of individuals.
Rea is a lifelong Rhode Islander, graduating from Johnston High School, then continuing his studies at the Community College of Rhode Island.
Rea resides in Smithfield with his wife of over 22 years, Michelle. Together they have three children, Kevin, Breanna, and Giovanni, and a grandson, Noah.
