James B. Jackson (D) was elected in November 2018 to the seat in House District 26 in West Warwick, Coventry and Warwick. He is a member of the House Committee on Judiciary, the House Committee on Labor, the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs and the House Committee on Special Legislation.
Representative Jackson, who is a retired electrician with IBEW #99, serves as a commissioner on the Rhode Island Fire Safety Code Board of Appeal and Review, a commissioner on the Rhode Island Rehabilitation Code Board and a member of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration hearing board. He is a member or former member of the Eastern Seaboard Apprenticeship Council, Build RI, Youth Build Providence, Habitat for Humanity, the Disabled American Veterans, the Ancient Order of Hibernians #1 of Warwick and the Sons of Irish Kings.
A Vietnam War combat veteran as a member of the Navy, he was awarded a U.S. Combat Action Ribbon and other awards from the Vietnamese government for his service.
A 1968 graduate of Pilgrim High School in Warwick, he earned a degree in economics from the University of Rhode Island in 1986.
