Welcome to our newly updated News section of the Rhode Island General Assembly's web site.

The Legislative Press and Public Information Bureau is a non-partisan department of the legislature. Its purpose is to provide a variety of shared services to the 75 Representatives and 38 Senators, most of whom have no office or no staff. These services include printing of legislation, copying and secretarial work, and publicity.

The News page on the legislature's web site provides an electronic outlet for the Bureau's publicity efforts, such as press releases, op-ed articles, and a variety of printed publications that are made available to the people of Rhode Island.
