STATE HOUSE – Governor Daniel McKee has signed into law legislation (2021-S 0024A / 2021-H 5051A) sponsored by Sen. Samuel W. Bell and Rep. Jacquelyn Baginski which would increase the time that the secretary of state can withdraw a certificate of revocation for a corporation, nonprofit corporation, or limited liability company from 10 to 20 years. Currently, businesses are required to seek reinstatement through the legislature.
“This legislation will dramatically reduce the number of businesses that will have to get an entire law passed to reinstate their proper corporate paperwork. It will help improve business regulation by getting the correct business information legally registered, and it will help small business owners achieve the dream of never having to deal with politicians,” said Senator Bell (D-Dist. 5, Providence).
“The bill removes the process of businesses having to go to the General Assembly in order to once again legally operate in the state once their affairs have been settled. This will save everyone precious time and energy and simplify what should be a routine interaction with the state,” said Representative Baginski (D-Dist. 17, Cranston).
