Sen. Ciccone issues statement on Triggs Golf Course vote
|
STATE HOUSE – Sen. Frank A. Ciccone (D-Dist. 7, Providence, North Providence) is issuing the following statement on today’s vote by the Providence Board of Parks Commissioners to extend the contract for FCG Associates to continue operating the Triggs Golf Course in Providence:
“This isn’t right and frankly, it stinks worse that the landfill. The only person who seems to be in favor of extending this contract for another 10 years is the mayor who will be out of office in a couple of months. No public comment was taken, the surrounding neighborhood is against it, the customers of Triggs are against it and it’s time we breathe new life into this long neglected community asset. Today’s farce of a vote will not be the end of this issue and I once again urge Mayor Elorza to do the right thing and allow the incoming mayor and council to decide what’s best for Triggs and the people of Providence. Ramming a sweetheart deal down our throats while he is on his way out the door is simply not in the best interests of the community and Triggs,” said Senator Ciccone.
