MEDIA ADVISORY: Senate Committee on Rules, Government Ethics and Oversight to meet today to hear Senate rules

STATE HOUSE — The Senate Committee on Rules, Government Ethics and Oversight is scheduled to meet today to hear testimony on the proposed Senate rules for the 2023-24 legislative term.
The committee is scheduled to meet Monday, Feb. 6, at 5 p.m. in Room 313 on the third floor of the State House. The panel will hear testimony on the proposed Senate rules (2023-S 0152) introduced by Sen. Mark P. McKenney (D-Dist. 30, Warwick), who chairs the committee.
The proposal would include a provision for the Senate President to authorize a member to vote at session by limited-directed proxy if the member is unable to be physically present in the chamber due to a health or medical condition.
The committee is scheduled to meet again on Thursday, Feb. 9, at 5 p.m. at the same location, and is expected to vote on the proposed rules.
