The Rhode Island General Assembly will celebrate International Women's Day next week with an event Tuesday, March 7, at 1 p.m. in the State Room on the second floor of the State House.
Hosted by Rep. Teresa A. Tanzi (D-Dist .34, South Kingstown, Narragansett), Rep. Kathleen A. Fogarty (D-Dist. 35, North Kingstown), Sen. Alana M. DiMario (D-Dist. 36, Narragansett, North Kingstown, New Shoreham) and Sen. Sandra Cano (D-Dist. 8, Pawtucket), the event will honor Rhode Island nurses and nurse educators.
Speakers will include Nancy Meedzan, chairwoman of the Department of Nursing at Providence College; Linda Mendonca, assistant professor at the Zvart Onanian School of Nursing at Rhode Island College; and Dr. Betty Rambur, interim dean, professor and Routhier Chair for Practice at University of Rhode Island.
Participants are encouraged to wear purple.
