Deputy Speaker Hull tells North Providence residents ‘help is on the way’ for Woonasquatucket Avenue
|
STATE HOUSE – Deputy Speaker Raymond A. Hull says “help is on the way” for North Providence residents fed up with the condition of Woonasquatucket Avenue.
“After reaching out personally to Rhode Island Energy regarding the still-unacceptable conditions of Woonasquatucket Avenue, I am pleased to say that I’ve been assured that help is on the way and that the people of North Providence should expect the meaningful reconstruction of Woonasquatucket Avenue shortly,” said Deputy Speaker Hull (D-Dist. 6, Providence, North Providence).
Below is an updated timeline of the project:

Phase 1 - (12k ft, from Smith Street to #211 Woonasquatucket Avenue) Valve boxes are still being installed and sidewalk restoration is in progress. Contractors are working hard to complete this work which will clear the way for milling to begin soon at Smith Street. Residents in the area should begin to see signage for Phase I paving shortly. The project is scheduled (weather permitting) to be completed by the end of November.

Phase 2 - (3k ft from #1 to # 173 Woonasquatucket Avenue) Customer connections are still being made, along with other work, before paving can begin. Anticipated complete abandonment is planned for December (weather permitting) and RI Energy intends to place Phase 2 on their RIDOT winter work request in order to expedite the project and continue working through the normal winter work moratorium on road projects.
