10/23/2023 MEDIA ADVISORY: House Oversight Committee to hear presentation from Department of Human Services on SNAP benefits
STATE HOUSE — The House Committee on Oversight is scheduled to meet Wednesday to hear a presentation on the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program from the Department of Human Services.

The committee will meet Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 4 p.m. in the Room 101 on the first floor of the State House.

Kimberly Merolla-Brito, director of the Department of Human Services, will give the presentation, including updates on “Processing Wednesdays” and call center wait times, DHS lobbies, the use of technology solutions by customers, staff training, integration of SNAP applications with other programs, and recent evaluations of department practices and procedures.

The House Oversight Committee is chaired by Rep. Patricia Serpa (D-Dist. 27, West Warwick, Coventry, Warwick).

The meeting will be televised live by Capitol Television, which can be seen by Cox Communications subscribers on channels 15 and 61 for high definition, on channel 15 by i3Broadband viewers, and channel 34 for Verizon subscribers.
