12/4/2023 Media Advisory: Senator-elect Bissaillon to be sworn in Friday
STATE HOUSE – Senator-elect Jacob Bissaillon will be sworn into the Rhode Island Senate by Secretary of State Gregg Amore in a State House ceremony Friday.

The ceremony is scheduled Friday, Dec. 8, at 2:30 p.m. in the Senate Chamber on the second floor of the State House. It will be live streamed at http://rilegislature.gov/CapTV/Pages/default.aspx and televised on Capitol Television, which can be seen on Cox Channels 15, and 61, in high definition on Cox Channel 1061, on Full Channel on Channel 15 and on Channel 34 by Verizon subscribers.

Senator-elect Bissaillon, a Democrat, won the election held Nov. 7 to represent District 1 in Providence. The district was previously represented for 36 years by the late Senate Majority Whip Maryellen Goodwin.

Senator-elect Bissaillon recently stepped down as the Senate’s chief of staff, and has been named CEO of Justice Assistance, a nonprofit based in Cranston that helps victims navigate the justice system, helps defendants successfully exit it, and helps advocate for system improvements. He has also served as chief of staff to the Providence City Council, and served on the staff of the House of Representatives.
