2/5/2024 Media Advisory: Municipal Government and Housing Committee to meet Thursday to vote on local bills
STATE HOUSE – The House Committee on Municipal Government and Housing is expected to vote on six bills requested by municipalities concerning their local operations when it meets Thursday. These bills relate to local tax codes, the registration of businesses and dog ordinances.

The committee is scheduled to meet on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 3:45 p.m. in the House Lounge on the second floor of the State House. The bills to be considered include:
  • 2024-H 7111 —This bill, introduced by Rep. Deborah A. Fellela (D-Dist. 43, Johnston), would authorize the town of Johnston to grant a tax credit to any person over the age of 65.
  • 2024-H 7243 — This bill, introduced by Rep. Alex S. Finkelman (D-Dist. 74, Jamestown, Middletown), would allow the town of Jamestown to grant a tax reduction to gold star parents and to visually impaired persons.
  • 2024-H 7244 — This bill, introduced by Rep. Mia A. Ackerman (D-Dist. 45, Cumberland, Lincoln), would allow the town of Cumberland to require the registration of businesses within its town limits.
