Media Advisory: House Health, Human Services Committee meets Tuesday for health insurance bills
|
STATE HOUSE – The House Health and Human Services Committee meets Tuesday for hearings on a lengthy list of bills concerning health insurance.
The committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday, March 19, at the rise of the House session (sometime after 4:30 p.m.) in Room 135 on the first floor of the State House. Among the 18 bills scheduled for hearings are:

2024-H 7735 — Sponsored by Rep. Justine A. Caldwell (D-Dist. 30, East Greenwich, West Greenwich), this bill requires insurance coverage for a minimum of up to 90 days of residential or inpatient services for mental health and/or substance use disorders for American Society of Addiction Medicine levels of care 3.1 and 3.3.

2024-H 7877 — This bill sponsored by Rep. Karen Alzate (D-Dist. 60, Pawtucket, Central Falls) requires coverage for the diagnosis and treatment of infertility, including preimplantation genetic diagnosis in conjunction with in vitro fertilization, and makes requirements inclusive of same-sex couples and individuals.

2024-H 8025 — Sponsored by Rep. Joseph M. McNamara (D-Dist. 19, Warwick, Cranston), Reproductive Tissue Safety and Storage Act of 2024 would require any facility in Rhode Island that stores human eggs, sperm, testicular tissue, ovarian tissue and embryos to complete the accreditation checklist of the College of American Pathologists.

2024-H 8073 — This bill sponsored by Rep. Kathleen A. Fogarty (D-Dist. 35, South Kingstown) would require health insurance plans to cover the use of artificial intelligence technology for analysis of breast tissue diagnostic imaging.
