Aquidneck Island Climate Caucus to host virtual conversation on sea rise, flooding, resilience

STATE HOUSE – Rep. Lauren H. Carson (D-Dist. 75, Newport) and Rep. Terri Cortvriend (D-Dist. 72, Portsmouth, Middletown) will host an upcoming virtual Aquidneck Island Climate Caucus conversation with flooding and resilience leaders.
The forum, which is open to the public, will take place on Zoom Sunday, March 24, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required for access and is available at this link. Registrants will receive the Zoom link the day of the meeting.
The event will feature Curt Spaulding, former Environmental Protection Agency Region 1 director and longtime Save the Bay executive director; Paige Myatt, Aquidneck Island municipal resilience coordinator at the Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank; and Rep. Tina L. Spears (D-Dist. 36, Charlestown, New Shoreham, South Kingstown, Westerly), the sponsor of the Act on Coasts (2024-H 7022). The conversation will focus on sea rise, coastal flooding and resiliency and the urgency of addressing them.
The Aquidneck Island Climate Caucus is a community group formed by Representatives Cortvriend and Carson to give voice to the importance of mitigating and adapting for the earth’s changing climate.
