Media Advisory: House Health, Human Services Committee meets tomorrow for votes on mammogram notifications, opticians
|
STATE HOUSE – The House Health and Human Services Committee meets tomorrow to vote on bills concerning optician qualification and patient notifications about mammogram results, as well as hearings on numerous bills concerning nursing homes.
The committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow, Tuesday, March 26, at the rise of the House session (sometime after 4:30 p.m.) in Room 135 on the first floor of the State House. Scheduled for votes are:

2024-H 7297— Sponsored by Rep. Alex S. Finkelman (D-Dist. 74, Jamestown, Middletown), this bill establishes a second avenue of qualification as an optician, to include successfully completing an apprenticeship program.

2024-H 7734 — This bill sponsored by Rep. Rebecca Kislak (D-Dist. 4, Providence) amends the notice requirement to patients to follow the mandated FDA national reporting standards following a mammogram.

2024-H 7733 — Sponsored by Rep. Scott A. Slater (D-Dist. 10, Providence), the Nursing Home Workforce Standards Board Act would establish and enforce industrywide quality of care standards in nursing homes.

2024-H 7621 — This bill sponsored by Rep. Barbara Ann Fenton-Fung (R-Dist. 15, Cranston) permits licensed healthcare facilities to suspend visits of those person who are verbally or physically berating staff or providing nonprescribed or illegal medications to any patient. Suspensions would be lifted in cases of end of life scenarios.

2024-H 7520 — Sponsored by Rep. Robert J. Quattrocchi (R-Dist. 41, Scituate, Cranston), this bill would repeal the 2021 law that mandated minimum staffing levels and standards for quality care for nursing homes.
