MEDIA ADVISORY: Plastic Bottle Waste Commission meets on Monday

STATE HOUSE – The Special Joint Legislative Commission to Study and Provide Recommendations to Protect Our Environment and Natural Resources from Plastic Bottle Waste will be meeting on Monday, April 29 at 3 p.m. in the House Lounge of the State House to hear public testimony.
The commission is chaired by Rep. Carol Hagan McEntee (D-Dist. 33, South Kingstown, Narragansett) and Sen. Mark P. McKenney (D-Dist. 30, Warwick).
Bridget O’Brien, Chief Operating Officer of CLYNK, a plastic recycler based out of Maine, will detail CLYNK’s operations in Maine, Iowa, New York and Oregon. She will also provide details on the company’s patented plastic recycling technology and how it assists states with bottle bills.
The commission is tasked with creating a comprehensive study on the issues concerning current practices for the recycling of plastic bottles, miniature alcoholic beverage containers, and single-use plastic packaging and identifying pathways to improve the state's ability to address and recycle these materials.
