MEDIA ADVISORY: Rep. Diaz, Sen. DiMario to host 14th annual Child Care Awareness Day
|
STATE HOUSE — Rep. Grace Diaz (D-Dist. 11, Providence) and Sen. Alana DiMario (D-Dist. 36, North Kingstown, Narragansett, New Shoreham), co-chairwomen of the Permanent Legislative Commission on Child Care, will celebrate Child Care Awareness and Early Care and Education Advocacy Day at the State House Thursday.
Child Care Day is an opportunity for child care advocates to highlight various organizations in the state that work to improve the lives of children, youth and families. The event will begin with an Advocacy Day event at the Providence Marriott at noon, then at 1:30, parents and educators will take part in a Strolling Thunder march to the State House with an escort from the Providence Police. Strolling Thunder is a march of parents with their infants to mirror the child advocacy march that took place in Washington, D.C. on April 30.
The event will proceed at 2 p.m. as Representative Diaz and Senator DiMario welcome guests to the State House. Guests will gather in the Rotunda and a play space for children will be set up in the Bell Room.
Participants will have the opportunity to meet with legislators.
