Media Advisory: Municipal Government and Housing to vote Tuesday on Speaker’s Housing bill
|
STATE HOUSE — The House Committee on Municipal Government and Housing will meet Tuesday to vote on a bill from Speaker’s K. Joseph Shekarchi’s housing package.
The committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday, May 21, at 4 p.m. in Room 101 on the first floor of the State House. The committee is scheduled to vote on bills relating to housing and local ordinances, including one from Speaker Shekarchi’s (D-Dist. 23, Warwick) housing package:
-
2024-H 7985 — This legislation introduced by Rep. Tina Spears (D-Dist. 36, Charlestown, South Kingstown, New Shoreham, Westerly) further enables statewide planning, in conjunction with other agencies and the University of Rhode Island, to broaden the state’s GIS to include updated municipal information. The committee will also consider an amendment to the bill.
The committee will also vote on another bill related to housing:
-
2024-H 7382 — This legislation introduced by Rep. Jacquelyn Baginski (D-Dist. 17, Cranston) would provide that local zoning ordinances limiting the maximum number of unrelated persons living together could not limit this number to less than one person per bedroom. The committee will also consider an amendment to the bill.
The meeting will be televised by Capitol Television, which can be seen on Cox channel 61, on i3Broadband channel 15 and on Verizon channel 34. It will be live streamed at capitoltvri.cablecast.tv.
