STATE HOUSE — The House Environment and Natural Resources Committee will meet Tuesday to vote on bills related to the captive hunting of animals, reporting rules for animal collisions and the regulation of furbearing animals.

The committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday, May 21, at the rise of the House sometime after 5 p.m. in Room 135 on the first floor of the State House. The committee will vote on several bills, including:

Tikoian (D-Dist. 22, Smithfield, North Providence, Lincoln) would expand the reporting rules for collisions between vehicles and wildlife to include animals other than deer, and direct DEM to develop rules and regulations regarding the possession and use of the animal carcass involved in these collisions.
  • 2024-S 2297 — Also sponsored by Senator Tikoian, this bill would empower the Department of Environmental Management to set the rules governing the hunting and trapping of “furbearing mammals” in Rhode Island.
