Media Advisory: Senate Health and Human Services Committee to vote on numerous bills tomorrow
|
STATE HOUSE – The Senate Health and Human Services Committee has scheduled a hearing Tuesday to vote on a variety of bills.
The meeting is scheduled tomorrow, Tuesday, May 21, at the rise of the Senate session (sometime after 4:30 p.m.) in the Senate Lounge on the second floor of the State House.
Among the bills scheduled for votes are:

2024-S 2382 — Sponsored by Senate Health and Human Services Committee Chairman Joshua Miller (D-Dist. 28, Cranston, Providence), this bill would repeal the authority of the Health Insurance Commissioner to enforce any act of Congress or decision of federal court invalidating or repealing the prohibition of annual lifetime limits on health insurance in this state.

2024-S 2400 — This bill sponsored by Sen. Louis P. DiPalma (D-Dist. 12, Middletown, Little Compton, Tiverton, Newport), would establish the Wholesale Prescription Drug Importation Program for the importation of wholesale prescription drugs from Canada to provide savings to Rhode Island consumers.

2024-S 2380 — Sponsored by Sen. Jacob Bissaillon (D-Dist. 1, Providence), this bill would prohibit health insurers from requiring prior authorization or a step therapy protocol for the prescription of a nonpreferred medication on their drug formulary used to assess or treat bipolar disorder, schizophrenia or schizotypal.
The committee will also hold hearings on the appointments of Scott Gendron, Mykahla Gardiner, Christin L. Zollicoffer, Michael R. Dwyer, Annie Gjelsvik and Christopher T. Burks to the Health Information Exchange Commission.
The meeting will be televised on Capitol Television, which can be seen on Cox channel 61, on i3Broadband channel 15 and on Verizon channel 34 and live streamed at capitoltvri.cablecast.tv.
