MEDIA ADVISORY: House Finance Committee meets tomorrow to hear several bills
|
STATE HOUSE – The House Finance Committee will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, May 29 at the rise of the House (approximately 5:30 p.m.) in Room 35 of the State House to hear testimony on several bills.
Among the legislation scheduled to be heard are the following bills:

2024-H 7855, sponsored by Rep. Leonela Felix (D-Dist. 61, Pawtucket), provides amendments to the Cannabis Act relating to the definition of a social equity applicant and the required fee to maintain such status as a social equity applicant.

2024-H 7895, sponsored by Representative Felix, codifies the Katie Beckett Program pursuant to federal guidelines.

2024-H 8283, sponsored by Rep. Samuel A. Azzinaro (D-Dist. 37, Westerly), prohibits the collection of sales taxes on refundable deposits for batteries and core charges for motor vehicle equipment, parts or components.
