5/28/2024 MEDIA ADVISORY: House Finance Committee meets tomorrow to hear several bills
STATE HOUSE – The House Finance Committee will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, May 29 at the rise of the House (approximately 5:30 p.m.) in Room 35 of the State House to hear testimony on several bills.

Among the legislation scheduled to be heard are the following bills:
  • 2024-H 7855, sponsored by Rep. Leonela Felix (D-Dist. 61, Pawtucket), provides amendments to the Cannabis Act relating to the definition of a social equity applicant and the required fee to maintain such status as a social equity applicant.
  • 2024-H 7895, sponsored by Representative Felix, codifies the Katie Beckett Program pursuant to federal guidelines.
  • 2024-H 8283, sponsored by Rep. Samuel A. Azzinaro (D-Dist. 37, Westerly), prohibits the collection of sales taxes on refundable deposits for batteries and core charges for motor vehicle equipment, parts or components.
The meeting will be televised by Capitol Television, which can be seen on Cox channel 61, on i3Broadband channel 15 and on Verizon channel 34. It will be live streamed at capitoltvri.cablecast.tv
