Media Advisory: House Environment Committee to meet Wednesday to vote on PFAS ban and hear bottle bill
|
STATE HOUSE — The House Environment and Natural Resources Committee will meet Wednesday to vote on a bill to ban toxic chemicals in consumer products and to hear a bill to establish a bottle deposit recycling program.
The committee is scheduled to meet Wednesday, June 5, at the rise of the House sometime after 5 p.m. in the House Lounge on the second floor of the State House. The committee will vote on several bills, including:

2024-H 7356 — This bill introduced by Rep. Terri Cortvriend (D-Dist. 72, Portsmouth, Middletown) would prohibit the intentional addition of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in covered products offered for sale or manufactured in the state. The committee will also consider an amendment to the bill.
The committee will hear a bill (2024-H 8312) introduced by Rep. Carol Hagan McEntee (D-Dist. 33, South Kingstown, Narragansett) that would establish a beverage container recycling program to be regulated by the Department of Environmental Management.
