6/5/2024 Rep. Stewart, House honor Bridget Boucher, who was named R.I. Elementary Principal of the Year
STATE HOUSE — Rep. Jennifer Stewart (D-Dist. 59, Pawtucket) welcomed Bridget Boucher, principal of Francis J. Varieur Elementary School in Pawtucket, to the House chamber Tuesday to honor her with a citation.

Boucher was chosen as Rhode Island Elementary School Principal of the Year for 2024 by the Rhode Island Association of School Principals. The award is an acknowledgement from her peers for the exemplary contributions she has made to the profession.

“I had the delightful opportunity to spend some of the morning today with Principal Boucher, her students, and staff,” said Representative Stewart. “Her care and her commitment to ensuring every child succeeds academically was a joy to behold as it is shared by all members of the Varieur faculty. While I was there, I learned that Principal Boucher had just received word that she will be going to Washington, D.C., where she will be honored as one of 36 elementary school principals from across the United States as a National Distinguished Principal by the National Association of Elementary School Principals.”

The RIASP Elementary Principal of the Year recognition program is run in conjunction with the National Distinguished Principal Program (NDP) which is sponsored by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP). The program honors school principals who place student learning at the center, set high expectations for student development, oversee standards-based teaching and learning, utilize data in making decisions and engage the community in the shared responsibility for student achievement.
