6/10/2024 MEDIA ADVISORY: House Finance Committee meets today and tomorrow for several votes
STATE HOUSE – The House Finance Committee will meet today, Monday, June 10 at 3:30 p.m. in Room 35 of the State House to vote and hear testimony on several bills.
 
Among the legislation scheduled to be considered are the following bills:
  • 2024-H 7032, sponsored by Rep. John G. Edwards (D-Dist. 70, Tiverton), increases the maximum state and municipal small purchase limits from $10,000 to $25,000 for construction projects and from $5,000 to $10,000 for all other state and municipal purchases.
  • 2024-H 7127, sponsored by Rep. Evan P. Shanley (D-Dist. 24, Warwick, East Greenwich), establishes Rhode Island Secure Choice Retirement Savings Program to be administered by the general treasurer.
  • 2024-H 8244A, 2024-S 3040Aaa, sponsored by Rep. Gregory J. Costantino (D-Dist. 44, Lincoln, Smithfield, Johnston) and Sen. Frank A. Ciccone (D-Dist. 7, Providence, Johnston), increases the maximum amount of credit a video lottery retailer may extend to a patron and would authorize certain amendments to the regulatory agreement involving Bally's Corporation and affiliates of Bally's.
Among the legislation scheduled to be heard are the following bills:
  • 2024-H 8348, sponsored by Rep. Patricia A. Serpa (D-Dist. 27, West Warwick, Coventry), provides that vendors, parent corporations, subsidiaries, affiliates, or subcontractors of the state are prohibited from bidding on requests for proposals if the person or entity has a conflict of interest as defined by the code of ethics.
  • 2024-H 7331, sponsored by Rep. Brian Patrick Kennedy (D-Dist. 38, Hopkinton, Westerly), provides a four-year expiration period on any certificate of exemption pursuant to this section for writers, composers and artists.
  • 2024-S 2687, sponsored by Senator Ciccone, extends the incentive pay plan to all full-time court clerks who meet the eligibility requirements.
 
On Tuesday, June 11 at 3:30 p.m. in Room 35, the committee is scheduled to hear testimony on legislation (2024-H 7927) sponsored by Rep. Joseph J. Solomon (D-Dist. 22, Warwick) that provides banks with an election to use the allocation and apportionment method of income for purposes of taxation.
 
The meetings will be televised by Capitol Television, which can be seen on Cox channel 61, on i3Broadband channel 15 and on Verizon channel 34. It will be live streamed at capitoltvri.cablecast.tv
