6/20/2024 MEDIA ADVISORY: Sens. DiPalma, Valverde and Rep. Baginski to host Legislative Leap on June 23 to raise money for Green Beret 2-Gun
STATE HOUSE – The Legislative Leap, a fundraising event where state legislators and their guests will jump out of an airplane to raise money for Green Beret 2-Gun, has been scheduled for Sunday, June 23, at 8 a.m. at Skydive Newport.

Sen. Louis P. DiPalma (D-Dist. 12, Middletown, Little Compton, Newport, Tiverton) is hosting this year’s event with Sen. Bridget Valverde (D-Dist. 35, North Kingstown, East Greenwich, South Kingstown) and Rep. Jacquelyn Baginski (D-Dist. 17, Cranston) and  Rep. Jon D. Brien (I-Dist. 49, Woonsocket, North Smithfield).

The mission for Green Beret 2-Gun is to bring together communities in support of veterans of Special Operations and their families. The group helps veterans in times of need and memorializes those that have served. They raise funds and awareness by facilitating competitional marksmanship events and providing tactical lessons to the public.

“This is a special event that not only honors our country’s brave service members, but also helps and raises funds for our veterans.  The Green Beret 2-Gun group selflessly supports veterans of our Special Operations divisions, whose service to our country and the world often goes unnoticed and underappreciated.  We look forward to leaping for these courageous men and women and to recognize what they have nobly done for us all,” said Senators DiPalma, Valverde and Representatives Baginski and Brien.

The public is invited to witness the jump, which will take place at Skydive Newport, 211 Airport Access Road, Middletown.
