Rep. Casimiro delivers $5,000 grant to NKPD for children’s winter coat giveaway
|
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Julie A. Casimiro recently delivered a $5,000 legislative grant to the North Kingstown Police Department that will be used toward child centric causes, such as purchasing children’s winter coats and boots for the department’s winter clothing giveaway to be held on Oct. 26.
The police department will be joined by the North Kingstown School Department’s Office of Family Learning and Representative Casimiro on Oct. 26 at the Davisville Academy, 50 East Court, for the giveaway event. Along with the children’s winter coat giveaway, the department will also be holding a North Kingstown Police and Fire touch-a-truck event for the families that attend. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon.
“The cold weather is fast approaching and for too many kids and families, proper winter clothing is too expensive and that is just heartbreaking to me. This is a great event that will help and protect our children in need during the winter months and I thank the North Kingstown Police Department and the Office of Family learning for taking the time to care for our under-privileged children. Securing a legislative grant for the event was the least I could do to ensure that our kids stay safe and warm in the winter,” said Representative Casimiro (D-Dist. 31, North Kingstown, Exeter).
“I wish to express my gratitude to Representative Casimiro for her ongoing support, and to the Office of Family Learning for partnering with us to provide comfort and lessening one more stressor that our less fortunate student population and parent/guardians experience,” said Chief John Urban.
