MEDIA ADVISORY: Rep. Casimiro to hold 2nd Child Welfare and Child Well-Being Leadership Summit on Oct. 29

STATE HOUSE – Rep. Julie A. Casimiro, chairwoman of the House Oversight Subcommittee on Children and Families, will be hosting the 2nd Leadership Summit on Child Welfare and Child Well-being on Tuesday, Oct. 29, starting at 8:30 a.m., at the National Education Association Rhode Island’s headquarters at 99 Bald Hill Road in Cranston.
At the invitation-only summit, Representative Casimiro will be bringing together decision and policy makers to discuss and collaborate on new and innovative ideas to improve child welfare and well-being in Rhode Island.
“This summit was organized to continue to shed light on the tough issues facing Rhode Island’s most vulnerable youth and to develop strategies and solutions to systemic challenges we face in Rhode Island. We will hear from experts in child development, children’s mental health, and child welfare and we will hear about research, best practices, system challenges, and system reforms. We will also hear compelling stories and recommendations from individuals with personal experiences within the public system. Together, we can create a brighter future for all children and families by prioritizing their welfare and well-being in our policies and practices,” said Representative Casimiro (D-Dist. 31, North Kingstown, Exeter).
Opening remarks will be delivered by House Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi (D-Dist. 23, Warwick) at 9 a.m. and the following speakers will deliver presentations throughout the day:
