1/29/2025 Rep. Handy to host Economic Policy Institute at State House tomorrow
Event to highlight the difficult realities facing Rhode Island working families, propose solutions to advance their economic security

STATE HOUSE – Rep. Arthur Handy will welcome the Economic Progress Institute (EPI) and African American Museum of Rhode Island Executive Director Christopher West for a State House event tomorrow to highlight the difficult realities facing working families and propose solutions to advance their economic security.
The findings of the 2024 Rhode Island Standard of Need (RISN)  EPI’s flagship report — will drive the event, which will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 3 p.m. in the House Lounge on the second floor of the State House.

RISN’s key finding is that even with work support programs factored in, many Rhode Islanders’ wages are too low to meet basic living costs such as housing, food, health care and child care.
The nonprofit EPI advocates for policies that improve economic security and opportunity for Rhode Islanders.
