Media Advisory: House Health, Human Services Committee to meet Thursday
|
STATE HOUSE – The House Health and Human Services Committee meets Thursday for hearings on several bills, including one extending second-hand smoke laws to include marijuana smoke and vapor and another permanently allowing harm-reduction centers.
The committee is scheduled to meet Thursday, Feb. 6, at the rise of the House session (sometime after 4:30 p.m.) in the House Lounge on the second floor of the State House. Among the bills to be heard are:

2025-H 5027 — Sponsored by Rep. Grace Diaz (D-Dist. 11, Providence), this bill provides that any law or regulation that prohibits or protects a person from exposure to second-hand smoke would include second-hand marijuana smoke or vapor.

2025-H 5171 — This bill sponsored by Rep. John G. Edwards (D-Dist. 70, Tiverton) would removes the sunset provision of the four-year pilot program to prevent drug overdoses through the establishment of harm reduction centers, permanently allowing them.

2025-H 5083 — Sponsored by Rep. Deborah Fellela (D-Dist. 43, Johnston), this bill would require that public and private golf courses maintain an automated external defibrillator on site.
The meeting will be televised on Capitol Television, which can be seen on Cox channel 61, on i3Broadband channel 15 and on Verizon channel 34. It will be live streamed at capitoltvri.cablecast.tv.
