2/24/2025 Media Advisory: House Health, Human Services Committee to vote on two bills
STATE HOUSE – The House Health and Human Services Committee meets tomorrow for votes on two bills and hearings on numerous others.

The committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the rise of the House session (sometime after 4:30 p.m.) in Room 135 on the first floor of the State House. The committee is scheduled to vote on:
  • 2025-H 5045— Sponsored by Rep. Julie A. Casimiro (D-Dist. 31, North Kingstown, Exeter), this resolution extends the reporting date of a special legislative commission studying the feasibility of using federal Title IV funds to support enrollment in social work education at Rhode Island College.
  • 2025-H 5083 — Sponsored by Rep. Deborah Fellela (D-Dist. 43, Johnston), this bill would require that public and private golf courses maintain an automated external defibrillator on site. An amendment to name the law the “David Casey Act” will be considered.
 
The committee will also hold hearings on a number of bills, including:
  • 2025-H 5168 — This bill sponsored by Rep. Jennifer Boylan (D-Dist. 66, Barrington, East Providence) would require all state-licensed health care facilities to convert the powering of their operations from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources.
  • 2025-H 5303 — Sponsored by Rep. Jason Knight (D-Dist. 67, Barrington, Warren), this bill establishes a searchable database of health care professionals’ complaint histories, accessible to employers, with provisions to allow license holders to dispute inaccurate information. The bill is intended to ensure that health care institutions can make informed hiring decisions while protecting the rights of license holders.
  • 2025-H 5351 — This bill sponsored by Rep. Jacquelyn Baginski (D-Dist. 17, Cranston) would require that cosmetic medical procedures be performed by a physician, physician assistant or advanced practice registered nurse, or delegated to an individual under the supervision of one.
The meeting will be televised on Capitol Television, which can be seen on Cox channel 61, on i3Broadband channel 15 and on Verizon channel 34. It will be live streamed at capitoltvri.cablecast.tv.
Testimony on the bills being heard will be accepted in person or in writing via email to HouseHealthandHumanServices@rilegislature.gov. Written testimony must include a name and any applicable organization, the bill number(s) and viewpoint (for/against/neither). It will be considered a public document.
