MEDIA ADVISORY: Senate Finance Committee meets twice this week to hear department budgets, budget articles and legislation
|
STATE HOUSE – The Senate Finance Committee will be meeting twice this week to hear testimony on department budgets, budget articles and legislation.
The committee is chaired by Sen. Louis P. DiPalma (D-Dist. 12, Middletown, Little Compton, Newport, Tiverton).
On Tuesday, March 11, at the RISE of the Senate (approximately 5 p.m.) in Room 211 of the State House, the committee will hear testimony on the FY 25 revised and FY 26 budgets for the University of Rhode Island.
The committee will also hear Article 4, relating to the Debt Management Act Concurrent Resolution, from the FY 26 state budget proposal.
Among the legislation being heard by the committee are the following bills:

2025-S 0440, sponsored by Sen. V. Susan Sosnowski (D-Dist. 37, South Kingstown), enhances and further defines the role of the board of trustees of the University of Rhode Island.

2025-S 0442, sponsored by Sen. Mark McKenney (D-Dist. 30, Warwick), adds the Workers' Compensation Administration Fund to those restricted receipt accounts not subject to indirect cost recoveries.

2025-S 0614, sponsored by Sen. Robert Britto (D-Dist. 18, East Providence, Pawtucket), provides technical and other corrections to various General Laws relating to taxation.

2025-S 0678, sponsored by Sen. Jacob E. Bissaillon (D-Dist. 1, Providence), grants municipalities the authority to impose a parking services sales tax on parking lots and parking structures that charge for parking services through an ordinance.
On Thursday, March 13, at the RISE of the Senate (approximately 5 p.m.) in Room 211 of the State House, the committee will hear testimony on the following department budgets and budget articles:

RI Emergency Management Agency: FY 25 Supplemental and FY 26 budgets

Article 9, Section 3 – RIEMA Lease, 2700 Plainfield Pike
