Media Advisory: Joint committee meeting will hear presentation from corporation administrating New England’s regional electrical system

STATE HOUSE — The House Corporations and the House Environment and Natural Resources Committees will meet in a joint hearing Wednesday to hear a presentation from ISO New England on its duties and responsibilities managing regional power systems and wholesale markets across New England.
The committees are scheduled to meet Wednesday, April 2, at 4 p.m. in the House Lounge on the second floor of the State House. The committees will hear a presentation on the duties and responsibilities of ISO New England from Kerry Schlichting, lead policy advisor for ISO New England.
ISO New England is an independent not-for-profit organization authorized by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to perform three critical, complex and interconnected roles for the region spanning Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and most of Maine: planning the transmission system, administering the region’s wholesale markets, and operating the power system to ensure reliable and competitively priced wholesale electricity.
Public testimony will not be accepted at this meeting.
The meeting will be televised live by Capitol Television, which can be seen on Cox channel 61, on i3Broadband channel 15 and on Verizon channel 34. It will be live streamed at capitoltvri.cablecast.tv/.
