Media Advisory: House Health, Human Services Committee to vote on several bills, hear a variety of others
|
STATE HOUSE – The House Health and Human Services Committee meets tomorrow to vote on several bills and to hold hearings on numerous others.
The committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday, April 1, at the rise of the House session (sometime after 4:30 p.m.) in the House Lounge on the second floor of the State House.
The committee has scheduled votes on:

2025-H 5550 — Sponsored by Rep. Evan P. Shanley (D-Dist. 24, Warwick, East Greenwich) on behalf of the Department of Health, this bill would standardize successor appointment language for various health care professional boards and add language providing that a quorum be a majority of appointed members.

2025-H 5619 — Sponsored by House Deputy Majority Whip Mia A. Ackerman (D-Dist. 45, Cumberland, Lincoln), this bill requires the Department of Health to incorporate information about dementia risk factors and reduction into public education and health care provider education materials.

2025-H 5633 — This bill sponsored by Rep. Michelle E. McGaw (D-Dist. 71, Portsmouth, Tiverton, Little Compton), would allow pharmacists to dispense a one-time refill for certain mediations for continuation of therapy to patients under certain circumstances.

2025-H 5866 — The committee will consider an amendment to this bill sponsored by Representative McGaw. With the amendment, the bill would increase the maximum fill for non-opioid, non-narcotic controlled substances on Schedule II to a 60-day supply.

2025-H 6083 — Sponsored by Rep. Edith H. Ajello (D-Dist. 1, Providence), this bill would amend current law so that initial contraceptive prescriptions would no longer be limited to a three-month supply.

2025-H 5024 — Sponsored by Rep. John G. Edwards (D-Dist. 70, Tiverton), this bill would prohibit health benefit plans form reviewing prescriptions for opioid addiction treatment.

2025-H 5120 — This bill sponsored by Rep. Brandon Potter (D-Dist. 16, Cranston), would prohibit insurers from imposing prior authorization requirements for services ordered by in-network primary care providers.

2025-H 5172 — Sponsored by House Health and Human Services Committee Chairwoman Susan R. Donovan (D-Dist. 69, Bristol, Portsmouth), this bill would promote transparency and accountability in the use of artificial intelligence by health insurers to manage coverage and claims.
