MEDIA ADVISORY: House Judiciary Committee meets tomorrow to consider and hear legislation
|
STATE HOUSE – The House Judiciary Committee will meet tomorrow to consider and hear testimony on a variety of legislation.
On Tuesday, April 29, at the Rise of the House (approximately 5 p.m.) in the House Lounge, the committee will consider legislation (2025-H 5447A) sponsored by Rep. Patricia A. Serpa (D-Dist. 27, West Warwick, Coventry) that prohibits a person to sell, offer for sale, display for sale or otherwise distribute a farmed animal fur product within the state and provides graduated civil penalties for violations.
The committee will also be reconsidering legislation (2025-H 5643) sponsored by Rep. Gregory J. Costantino (D-Dist. 44, Lincoln, Smithfield, Johnston), that amends the law relating to casino crimes to be consistent with the advent of iGaming and the relevant age restrictions to participate in iGaming.
The committee will also hear testimony on the following bills:

2025-H 5909, sponsored by Rep. Carol Hagan McEntee (D-Dist. 33, South Kingstown, Narragansett), makes all causes of action based on sexual abuse or exploitation of a child not subject to any statute of limitations, whether the claim has lapsed or was previously time-barred.

2025-H 6134, sponsored by Rep. Joseph M. McNamara (D-Dist. 19, Warwick, Cranston), allows the Department of Environmental Management to acquire established foot paths by eminent domain in order to provide public access to streams, rivers, lakes and ponds.
