Senate Republicans announce leadership team
|
STATE HOUSE – The Senate Republican caucus Tuesday reelected Senator Dennis L. Algiere, (Dist. 38, Westerly, Charlestown, South Kingstown) as Minority Leader and elected Senator Elaine J. Morgan (Dist. 34, Charlestown, Exeter, Hopkinton, Richmond, West Greenwich), as Minority Whip.
Algiere, who has served as Minority Leader since 1997, thanked his colleagues for their confidence in his leadership and said he looked forward to a productive working relationship between the caucus and members of the General Assembly during the next legislative
session.
Morgan was recently reelected to a third term representing Senate District 34. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to address the challenges the state faces,” Morgan said.
Senator Thomas J. Paolino, (Dist. 17, Lincoln, North Providence, North Smithfield), was appointed Senior Deputy Minority Leader.
Senator-elect Jessica de la Cruz, (Dist. 23, North Smithfield, Burrillville, Gloucester) and Senator-elect Gordon Rogers (Dist. 21, Foster, Coventry, Scituate, West Greenwich) round out the caucus membership.
