5/14/2024 Senate passes Felag’s bill to allow breweries to sell 1/6th kegs to public
STATE HOUSE – The Senate today approved legislation sponsored by Sen. Walter S. Felag that would allow breweries to sell one-sixth kegs of beer to the public.

“With our state’s local breweries flourishing, it is important to give these small businesses every opportunity to succeed while also giving the consumer more options to support these businesses.  Allowing the sale of these smaller kegs of beer to the public will expand consumer choice while also giving our breweries new revenue streams to continue operating within the state,” said Senator Felag (D-Dist. 10, Warren, Bristol, Tiverton).

The legislation (2024-S 2695) would allow for the holder of a manufacturer’s license to be able to sell one one-sixth barrel keg of malt beverage, produced on the premises, per day to consumers.

The bill now heads to the House for consideration where Rep. Carol Hagan McEntee (D-Dist. 33, South Kingstown, Narragansett) introduced the legislation (2024-H 7842).
