Media Advisory: Prescription bills to be heard in House committee Thursday
|
STATE HOUSE – The House Health and Human Services Committee will meet Thursday for a vote on legislation that would assist cancer research in the state, and for hearings on numerous bills concerning prescription drugs.
The meeting is scheduled Thursday, Feb. 29, at the rise of the House session (sometime after 4:30 p.m.) in Room 101 on the first floor of the State House.

2024-H 7301A — Sponsored by House Deputy Majority Whip Mia A. Ackerman (D-Dist. 45, Cumberland, Lincoln), this bill would allow the sharing of anonymized medical research data in the same manner allowed under federal law and most other states. The bill would assist medical research, particularly cancer research.

2024-H 7043 — This bill sponsored by House Majority Floor Manager John G. Edwards (D-Dist. 70, Tiverton) would prohibit health benefit plans reviewing prescriptions for opioid addiction treatment.

2024-H 7364 — Sponsored by House Speaker Pro Tempore Brian Patrick Kennedy (D-Dist. 38, Hopkinton, Westerly), this bill would cap the amount payable for 30-day supply of equipment or supplies for insulin administration or glucose monitoring at $25, and equipment designed to last more than 30 days with no deductible.

2024-H 7444 — This bill sponsored by Rep. Teresa A. Tanzi (D-
Dist. 34, South Kingstown, Narragansett) would establish the Wholesale Prescription Drug Importation Program for the importation of wholesale prescription drugs from Canada to provide savings to Rhode Island consumers.

2024-H 7518 — Sponsored by Rep. David Morales (D-Dist. 7, Providence), this bill would cap the total amount that an insured person would pay for a covered prescription asthma inhaler $25 per 30-day supply.
