6/28/2024 Rep. Casimiro honored by Adoption RI
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Julie A. Casimiro was honored by Adoption Rhode Island yesterday with the group’s “Children First and Always” award for her dedication to advocating for and helping children in state care.

“I am honored and humbled to receive this recognition from the amazing and devoted individuals at Adoption RI.  Every child’s well-being matters and it is our duty to help, protect and support our state’s most vulnerable children.  We have made some incredible strides over the past few years to assist and nurture our children in state care and I will continue to fight for their best interests at the State House,” said Representative Casimiro (D-Dist. 31, North Kingstown, Exeter).

Representative Casimiro received the award due to her tireless advocacy for children in state care.  As the chair of the House Oversight Subcommittee on Children and Families, she has been a leader to ensure that children in state care are protected, provided for and supported to ensure healthy and successful adult lives.  She has introduced numerous pieces of legislation to elevate the lives of these children and this year, and her legislation to award tuition vouchers for foster kids to attend Rhode Island College was included in the state budget.

Adoption Rhode Island is a private nonprofit organization whose mission is to create safety, belonging and permanency for adopted and foster children, vulnerable youth, and families through compassionate services, advocacy, and education.
