7/12/2024 Sen. Mack and Rep. Batista issue statement on temporary closing of Allens Avenue scrapyard
STATE HOUSE – Sen. Tiara Mack (D-Dist. 6, Providence) and Rep. José F. Batista (D-Dist. 12, Providence) are issuing the following statement on the temporary closing of Rhode Island Recycled Metals on Allens Avenue that was issued by Judge Brian Stern today:

“Today is a great day for the neighborhoods and residents of South Providence.  We thank everyone who has been involved in temporarily closing this dangerous and polluting business down for the foreseeable future and ensuring the health and safety of the community remains protected.  This is a small victory, but also a significant one, for the public health and safety of Providence’s residents.  We especially want to thank the numerous community organizations that have been fighting for this crucial outcome for over a decade,” said Senator Mack and Rep. Batista.
