Rep. O’Brien condemns political violence and offers condolences to Kirk family
|
STATE HOUSE – Rep. William W. O’Brien is releasing the following statement concerning the murder of Charlie Kirk yesterday:
“There is no place in our country for the horrific political violence we witnessed yesterday. No one, regardless of their politics, should ever be assassinated for exercising their First Amendment rights. Such violence goes against the values and ideals that our country was founded upon, and we all must pull back from and resist the division and rhetoric that is leading our great nation down a bloody and horrendous trail. I offer my condolences to the Kirk family, especially his two young children, and I hope that out of this tragedy, our country can find it within itself to denounce the hatred that divides us and instead come together to condemn all acts of needless and terrible political violence,” said Representative O’Brien (D-Dist. 54, North Providence).
