4/23/2024 Capitol TV launches app to livestream video on smart phones, Firestick and ROKU devices
STATE HOUSE — Capitol Television, the broadcast arm of the Rhode Island General Assembly, has launched a new app that will allow users to stream live content on iPhones and Androids, as well as smart television devices, such as Firestick and ROKU.

Capitol TV now boasts eight live streaming channels, all of which are closed captioned, to broadcast House and Senate sessions, committee meetings, press conferences and other State House events. To see each day’s programming schedule, go to capitoltvri.cablecast.tv.

“This app will give Rhode Islanders the power to watch lawmaking literally in the palm of their hands,” said Speaker of the House K. Joseph Shekarchi (D-Dist. 23, Warwick). “It’s all part of our ongoing efforts to make legislative business more accessible and transparent.”

Live broadcasts of Capitol Television can still be seen on Cox channel 61, on i3Broadband channel 15 and on Verizon channel 34.

“The way people watch television is rapidly changing,” said Senate President Dominick J. Ruggerio (D-Dist. 4, North Providence, Providence). “It’s important that Capitol TV keep up with changing technology to better reflect this reality and give Rhode Islanders greater access to our legislative proceedings.”

The app is available for free on Google Play, the Apple App Store, ROKU and FireTV streaming stores under “Capitol TV RI.”

While the new app will exclusively broadcast live content, viewers can still find archived content, including House and Senate sessions, committee meetings, press conferences and more at rilegislature.gov.
